Are you interested in local history and/or creative media?
Would you like to:
• Develop your research skills?
• Take part in an exciting Barrow based heritage project?
• Explore local history through creative art and media?
We are looking for a team of volunteers to help us research and bring to life the history of the newly renovated Cooke's Studios on Abbey Road. We will be collecting oral and physical histories, recording the memories of those who worked and shopped in the Cooke's Department Store between 1915 and 1959, and exploring and interpreting this material through a range of creative media.
Training in archive research and the recording of oral history will be provided by professionals along with a range of creative workshops with artists. Participation in the project is entirely voluntary and free of charge.
To find out more, book a place at one of the introductory sessions on:
Weds 22nd February 6pm - 8pm
Thurs 23rd February 2pm - 4pm
