Where you can find state-of-the-art digital production facilities including a range of high definition cameras, lights, rigs and a Mac workshop with dual screen Final Cut Studio edit suites.
Kit is available to hire at affordable rates with special rates available for community and unfunded arts projects.
CONFERENCE FACILITIES & ROOM HIRE
Perfect for smaller events and workshops, particularly those with a creative theme, the Cooke's Studios is located in the centre of Barrow on Abbey Road, next door to the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel and right across the road from the train and bus stations.
A newly refurbished Grade II listed building, this attractive contemporary facility offers:
- A STUDIO SPACE on the ground floor which comfortably seats an audience of 55 in 'cinema style' rows, or laid out with tables and chairs fits 40-50 people. It has a brand new cinema screen with surround sound which can be used for screenings or to project from a laptop for presentations. Extra requirements for items such as flip charts or catering faciiities can also be arranged. Available daytime, evenings and weekends, prices start from £70 a day, special rates for community and non-profit groups.
- An ICT SUITE AND TRAINING WORKSHOP SPACE - 2 adjoined rooms offering classroom-style seating for up to 15 people in one side (includes projection facilities), and a bank of 6 Mac computers and comfy seating area next door. Ideal for smaller training groups. Prices start from £50 a day, special rates for community and non-profit groups.

BACKGROUND
The Cooke's Studios is a partnership between Signal's sister company Creative Studios Cumbria and Barrow Borough Council. Together we have developed a creative industries centre in the centre of Barrow in Furness, with phase 1 (refurbishment of 3 floors) now open.
THE BUILDING
The Studios are housed in The Cookes Building on Abbey Road. It is a 16,000 sqft, double fronted Victorian building which runs over 5 floors. The upper floors were most recently a furniture showroom whilst the basement was home to the Sub Zero nightclub, focus for the area's rave culture during the late 80s/early 90s.
Phase 1 of the project now houses key creative arts organisations and creative, design and digital media facilities open to local businesses and the public as well as flexible exhibition, conference and workshop space.
