Signal Films produces films for cinema, broadcast and the commercial sector as well as providing specialist creative and digital media training.

Based in Barrow-in-Furness we provide creative and professional development opportunities for aspiring and practicing filmmakers, creative writers and digital artists working with film and digital technologies.

We work closely with local, regional and national partners to contribute to the development of a vibrant and sustainable film and media culture. We offer a wide range of initiatives including training courses, mentored residencies, production schemes, masterclasses and networking events, as well as running innovative outreach community and education projects across the Cumbrian region

Our dedicated team has a strong track record of delivering industry training for the UK Film Council and the Learning Skills Council, running creative networking events and screenings across Cumbria and providing placements for local people on productions such as Channel 4's Shameless and Miss Potter. 

Our most recent short film Just Before Dawn, starring Vicky McClure and Natalie Press, was nominated for Best British Short at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2010 and the Jim Poole Award.
